Objectives

Our main goal was to promote intercultural education, with the ideal of shaping our students into committed Europeans who are familiar with their cultural backgrounds and develop a distinct European identity through exchange with other young Europeans. Through direct encounters with peers from other European countries, our students were intended to experience a vibrant Europe and actively participate in European projects. The imparting of project management skills and intercultural knowledge was crucial for implementing this process effectively at our school. Although there were already initiatives for international exchange, coordinated implementation was urgently needed. Our faculty had little experience in dealing with overarching projects. By sending participants, we aimed for a multiplier effect within the faculty. The project management skills and intercultural competencies acquired there were to be integrated into both the school program and the work of subject departments. It was also highly desirable to expand our international contacts with other schools and institutions.

Background

The project was conducted to enhance intercultural competencies within the faculty and initiate intercultural projects. So far, intercultural projects could not be implemented to the desired extent. Therefore, our goal was to acquire the necessary knowledge to plan and execute successful projects through participation in this seminar. We saw a need to promote the European idea in our school. Through the training, we hoped that the participating colleagues would act as multipliers and integrate intercultural projects into our school program. Additionally, we aimed to expand our contacts with foreign schools and learn from proven organizational/learning methods. We planned to integrate Erasmus+ activities into our school program and offer intercultural projects. Through the training, we hoped for cross-border collaboration for job shadowing and group mobility. Overall, the goal was to develop strategies to educate students to become integrated European citizens. We expected significant competency expansion in project management and intercultural learning from the training.
