We wanted to strengthen the exchange with other people, cultures and institutions, across school and national borders, promote the European idea, learn from the experiences of our European neighbors and establish contacts in the English-speaking world or throughout Europe. In addition, our existing contacts with schools in France, Spain and Poland were to be intensified. The focus was on the importance of foreign language learning for international understanding and the transmission of values, and on opening the school to foreign teachers as guests or for observation. This was intended to strengthen the social competence, intercultural understanding, tolerance and acceptance as well as the European sense of community of the entire school community. Participating colleagues were to learn new teaching methods and techniques, creative ideas for dealing with heterogeneous learning groups, innovative motivation techniques, which would ultimately also strengthen teacher motivation. In the area of environmental protection, we wanted to receive new impulses for implementation at our school.
This project fits into the mission statement of our school: open, heterogeneous and collaborative we want to meet future challenges. The focus is on opening the school on a European level, dealing with conflicts, improving the quality of teaching through collegial observation, digital teaching methods and the use of new learning processes. Current topics in the field of the environment are integrated and promoted in the lessons or in the everyday school life. The internationality of the school and intercultural competence at teacher and student level are to be promoted. Five colleagues therefore took part in structured training courses that support these goals. They acted as multipliers and carried the results back to their respective departments. The requirements of the school in terms of quality development and internationalization were in the foreground. These include social skills of teaching staff, new teaching methods, organization of lessons with practical applications and learning processes. The acquired knowledge and experience were implemented in everyday school life as far as possible, which means that in the long term the whole school will benefit from the experience of the colleagues.
