Objectives

With reference to the formulated background, it was important for the school to give teachers the opportunity to develop themselves further and to focus on methodological training, but also to expand the internationalisation strategy of the school. Within the framework of the in-service training, the teachers were able to establish contacts with other countries, which in turn strengthened the internationalisation process of the school. In the largest department of the Elisabeth Selbert School, Social Pedagogy, the deputy head of department provides a special link to Norway. Other educational concepts in Norwegian kindergartens, risky play as well as the significance of Norwegian kindergarten teachers are the focus of this stay. This brings new ideas into the classroom, but also strengthens contact with the Hamelin partner institutions, as at least 10 teachers travel to Norway every year to observe. The teacher mobilities also offer the opportunity to develop language skills, which are primarily used by teachers who teach English or by teachers from the Erasmus team.

Background

At the Elisabeth-Selbert-Schule there are more and more pupils who come to us without a school-leaving certificate or from foreign education systems. The school wants to lead this group of learners towards learning and motivate them to enjoy learning. The ESS gives its students the opportunity to obtain a future-oriented and individual school education through various paths. Our principles serve to ensure that we apply a contemporary pedagogy and accept the educational mission for our pupils. This is linked to the development of greater school autonomy with comprehensive overall responsibility. The further development of the vision, mission and values and the goals and strategies derived from them require the ESS to continuously adapt its organisation and processes, develop its staff, maintain and expand partnerships and independently manage its resources. The selection of the participating colleagues is closely related to their areas of responsibility and the expected impulses for the school. More colleagues have shown interest in training that specifically addresses their groups of pupils.
