Promoting language skills among teachers to improve the quality of teaching and foreign language projects: expanding the group of people for European work. The foreign language course in English is intended to appeal to teachers from non-linguistic subject areas. With further training in the area of submitting applications, planning and implementing an Erasmus+ project, the circle of colleagues who are familiar with submitting applications should be expanded, as there will be personnel restructuring in this area over the next 4 years. The job shadowing should illustrate how media can be used in language teaching, by providing insight into how other European schools use these technologies in foreign language teaching and how students are trained to use them. Our colleagues should reflect on the results to create an overall concept. Two colleagues should devote themselves to digital media equipment and its use. Estonia is much more forward-looking in the school system than Germany with concepts for dealing with and implementing media in lessons. These are intended to serve as a stimulus for implementing and anchoring a media literacy framework.
We have experience with European projects such as Erasmus+ and student exchange projects. In the long term, we want to recruit more staff from disciplines other than languages to work on European projects. The international project references are intended to convey a European awareness to students and teachers. Since the projects are all carried out in English, sufficient foreign language skills are necessary. With greater language skills, colleagues could then be more involved in projects. Their implementation enables both teachers and students to expand social and linguistic skills. In addition, the encounters offer colleagues the opportunity to find out about teaching developments on site. Since our school offers many foreign languages, the evaluation and further development of these languages is an essential part of the school's internal quality development. The focus will be on expanding media literacy in language teaching in the coming years. Experiences from other countries with regard to digitalization can help us to develop an overall concept tailored to the needs of our school.
