In order to do justice to our heterogeneous student body and the diverse educational offers of our institution, we are very interested in constantly improving our offer and our teaching and learning methods and keeping them up to date. With this project, we wanted to offer our teachers the opportunity to prepare for the requirements of modern digital and diversified teaching and to expand the already existing competencies. This includes an increased use of digital teaching and learning methods in heterogeneous classes, e.g. to ensure individual support for students with a migration background, inclusion needs, etc. Furthermore, it is about familiarizing yourself with the implementation of a strong internal differentiation in order to be able to respond to the different needs of the students. We wanted to pay special attention to the promotion of integration and inclusion through the pedagogical use of sporting and playful activities, because we are convinced that all members of our institution will benefit from a strengthening of tolerance and cooperation through targeted sporting and playful activities.
Due to the strong heterogeneity within our student body, the promotion and implementation of inclusion and integration is a focus of our work. We were able to identify two areas in which we considered an expansion of competence to be particularly useful. On the one hand, it was about expanding employee competencies in the field of the application of new learning methods and the use of e-learning systems, e.g. project-based teaching, the use of new media and new technologies. In particular, due to the sharp increase in students with little or insufficient knowledge of German and students with a need for inclusion, an adaptation of the learning materials has become necessary. On the other hand, competences in the field of integration, inclusion and collaboration should be promoted through sport and play. Especially sporting and playful activities offer enormous potential when it comes to promoting tolerance and cooperation. The pedagogical use of new teaching concepts based on sporting and playful activities takes away existing fears of contact from students and teachers and allows them to overcome inhibitions that could prevent or even prevent successful cooperation.
