Objectives

In order to strengthen the special profile of the school and to meet the needs of a changing student body, the project aimed to achieve the following objectives: 1) Improving the quality of teaching by supporting the professional development of teachers 2) Improving transversal competences and attitudes towards CLIL and language-sensitive teaching by promoting multilingualism and subcultural competence of teachers Further development of the internationalisation of the school. To achieve these objectives, training activities within the EU have been used as a strategic tool. The aim was to achieve the following competences for a significant improvement in the quality of teaching: * Basics of CLIL teaching *Scheduling of CLIL hours Creation of suitable teaching and learning materials for heterogeneous and bilingual learning groups as well as * classroom management in heterogeneous learning groups Another goal was to improve the organizational framework with regard to the timetables in the bilingual profile and the integration into the school curriculum. These goals should be achieved through internships and job shadowing at other European schools.

Background

The background of the project was a self-evaluation of our Italian profile, which we carried out due to declining registration numbers in this profile. A special feature of this profile is that it is a bilingual section in the 3rd foreign language. Since we are the only school in Baden-Württemberg that offers such a profile, we wanted to look around at European partner schools to learn from them. In addition, we wanted to continue our education in structured courses and also involve colleagues who are not Italian teachers at our school. Another key point of the project was the improvement of language-sensitive teaching in other subject networks. The Königin-Katharina Stift is a school with over 200 years of tradition and has been a school with a European profile since its foundation. More than 30 years ago, the KKSt was the first school in Baden-Württemberg to introduce Italian as a 3rd foreign language. In the school year 2006/07, on the basis of a state treaty between Baden-Württemberg and the Republic of Italy, the unique bilingual profile with Italian was introduced, the educational goal of which is the german / Italian double Abitur (AbiStat).
