Objectives

The project aimed to achieve the following goals: Strengthening the European dimension: Here, it was particularly important that the teachers gain their own experience in other European countries. This includes knowledge about other educational systems, degrees and roles of teachers in Europe. Staff and management competence of the educational staff: With the help of the ERASMUS+ project, competencies in project management could be acquired. At the same time, the participants have developed them through the training abroad. Competence development for educational staff: Through the project, educational staff were able to promote and develop intercultural competencies. Many of the students have a migration background. Understanding other cultures is particularly important in everyday life. Development and implementation of new learning opportunities: Participation in a European seminar provides an impetus to also create your own new learning opportunities. These can be, for example, class exchanges or stays abroad for students.

Background

At the vocational training center in Rummelsberg, apprentices are trained in various professions. The young people in the vocational training center have a disability, a learning disability or mental illness and are therefore given special support. New insights into the teaching of knowledge are therefore crucial for the teachers and help to address the individual needs of each person. Many trainees also have a migration background. Young people from different cultures come together in the classes. Understanding and dealing with a different cultural background is crucial for teachers to achieve the best possible learning outcome. The teachers wanted to respond to these challenges and develop personally and professionally in the context of an in-service training program abroad.
