We had set the following goals for the planning, implementation and coordination of sustainable measures to promote digital media literacy: 1. qualification of the teachers: 7 teachers from Gymnasium and 5 from Haupt and Realschule branch incl. teachers for special needs and 1 head teacher took part in further training. as well as getting to know didactic Web 2.0 materials on the Internet and the web and the integration of Ipads/end devices with the curriculum/distance learning. 2. building up pupil qualifications: strengthening our ECDL (European Computer, Ipad Driving Licence) competence centre. Proper use of video conferencing programmes such as Teams, Zoom, etc, 3. intensifying the use of new media: in the long term, the individual departments could develop innovative, class-level appropriate and and interdisciplinary digital projects with Etwinning. 4. 4. internal information events in the form of workshops: New digital teaching and learning method, new contents and ways. 5. 5. revision of the internal school curriculum according to digital education standards. The design of further phases of our digitalised media concept at GBS
The GBS has as a focus area the improvement of the quality of teaching with sustainable digital development, as well as the expansion of digitalised media literacy and the more efficient use of students' learning time and the promotion of independent learning. In 2017, GBS started teaching with end devices (iPads) in the Gymnasium branch. Thanks to a KA1 project in 2018, a small group of colleagues learned the basic operation of the tablet and how to use it in the main subjects. Shortly after, a new iPad class followed in the Realschule branch. Now there was a lack of training for the colleagues in this type of school. We also found that we lacked further professional knowledge of methodological and didactic materials on the net to integrate into lessons. Although we lived in the middle of the pandemic, we continued training, courses, seminars, etc. with a focus on media competence and digitalisation in presence and virtually. It was the only way for us to learn how to organise distance learning.
