Objectives

Our project aimed to promote intercultural competences, improve the curriculum and introduce innovative digital teaching methods. Our goal is to provide contemporary, diverse teaching for students that increasingly incorporates digital media and promotes media literacy. Through international courses abroad, our teachers should gain personal experience in specific areas such as languages, digitalisation and Europe. This should enable further development of the curricula and new approaches in dealing with multicultural classes. In addition, the project should promote the use of new digital tools in the classroom, which can then be firmly anchored in the curriculum. We also looked for stress management methods to strengthen teacher health. Furthermore, our teachers should serve as role models to motivate students to benefit from the opportunities of free movement and support programmes in Europe.

Background

Our school in Neumünster is dedicated to students in transition to the world of work or dual vocational training. Given the changing work environment in the EU, intercultural skills, flexibility and expertise are crucial. This includes not only vocational skills, but also language skills and self-confidence. Our teachers need relevant skills to develop students locally and abroad. Inspired by positive experiences with Erasmus+ and other European activities, our school has founded the working group "European School". This group is developing content and criteria for the application to become a "European School in Schleswig-Holstein". Part of the staff is developing a European curriculum and looking for partner schools. Erasmus+ experiences help with this. In addition, we have developed a concept for digital learning, supported by the national Digitalpakt. To implement this, our teachers need further training. Due to pupils' interest in foreign languages and digital education, we hope to get inspiration and best practices from other EU countries through Erasmus+.
