Project summary

The Project "Eat well, Move more, Live better" will be implemented by a partnership consisting of six secondary schools from different European countries: Germany, Turkey, Bulgaria, Poland, Spain and Latvia. All of them are general education schools. Two of them are WHO associated schools, some are experts in implementing health and sport in general education. Healthy eating habits and obesity became an EU priority with the European Agenda for Health in 2007. We would like to carry out this project to increase the importance of health and sport education at schools, to draw attention to obesity that causes many diseases. Our project's context is health eating habits, healthy life, obesity, sport and the implementation of 21st century students' skills into general, health and sport education at schools. The project will also be community-centered. By collaboration with various local institutions and informal groups of people, we hope to enhance the local social capital in our city and make it a better place to live. The project will offer an extremely stimulating and developing experience for the students that will change their attitudes and perception of the world, influence their life choices, give them the drive to pursue their aims, bring out their hidden skills, help them to become active and conscious members of their local communities, nations and truly European citizens. It will be a two-year project. We'll carry out 6 LTT activities. 4 students and 2 teachers will join in every project meeting. The students are hosted in host families for a better cultural awareness. Our project is built on our ongoing Etwinning project. The National ID is 215174. We'll deal with various forms of health and sport such as voleyball, table tennis, football, cycling, handball, tennis, athletics, and organic garden for learning healthy cultivating, using them to trigger and develop healthy-sportive perspective of students, to help them enriching and bringing out their hidden 21st Century skills. By using non-academic activities, we want to attract the high intelligence students who don't have time to bring out their skills or the students who don't want to participate in social activities or who see healthy life and physical activity unnecessary because of the technological development, who have domestic economic problems and give them a chance to feel important, build their personality and selfconfidence. Moreover, working together with representatives of other nations' health and sport institutions we'll raise awareness of obesity, healthy life and physical activities. We'll create joint end products: the logo of the project, the project nutrition book, the video of Erasmus+ Olympic Games on healthy physical activities, preparing a mascot by using 21st century skills, preparing food pyramid by using recycling materials, preparing public spot, project blog, utube channel, preparing organic garden and teaching to cultivate and a set of lesson plans for lessons conducted in health institutions and sport institutions. To achieve objectives of our project, we'll do various kinds of activities, such as workshops, competitions, exhibitions, evaluations... that other institutions like other schools in our localities, health and sport centres, restaurants, children homes, old people homes will be taken part in. The activities are aimed not only to create end products, but also to form attitudes of entrepreneurship and leadership, teach teamwork skills, perform well in new situations, cooperate with people of different backgrounds, develop 21st century students skills, develop foreign language skill, form resources for UNICEF and WHO, learn new teaching methods, form a sense of national identity by attending lessons health and sport centres. Final report summary

The project dealt with the topics of healthy nutrition, sport and mental health. In the first year of the project, work on the project topic could only be carried out to a limited extent due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Bulgarian partner school left the project in October 2020 due to the pandemic. Each of the five remaining partner schools found themselves in a different situation. From the complete temporary school closure, hybrid lessons in school and at home to complete online lessons, every form of teaching was represented at the partner schools. This made the start of the project difficult. In the first year of the project, there were therefore several online teachers and online student-teacher meetings. The student-teacher online meetings lasted a whole week in the evening, the students gave their prepared presentations on parts of the project topic and teachers and students from the partner countries got to know each other. The online meeting groups were divided so that there were two students from each country; in each case a project teacher took over the management. From the 2nd project year mobility could be carried out again and the "normal" project work could be started or the work from the first project year could be continued. A project extension by one year, to three years, was applied for and approved. So you can say that the first year of the project was dedicated to getting to know each other and introducing them to the project, and in the second and third year of the project the project actually approved by the EU was carried out. The mobilities and the project plan were carried out as in the project application. Exceptions were the departure and the non-implemented mobility with the Bulgarian partner school and the change of date of the mobility at the Polish and German partner school. The focal points in each project mobility were adhered to and prepared and followed up by the partners. Nine teachers' conferences were held. Minutes were taken for each meeting. Each school published its results on the school homepage and we worked together on a common Facebook page (see European results platform). TwinSpace provided the main homepage of the project until August 2022, when this site was closed. All the results of the partner countries (presentations, leaflets, surveys, etc.), minutes of the teacher meetings, logo competitions, feedback on the project meetings, etc. can be found on this homepage: https://twinspace.etwinning.net/109255/home Unfortunately, after TwinSpace was closed, some pages on this homepage could no longer be made public, so that only the results of the German partner school can be accessed without logging in. Therefore, the following login must be used to make all results of the 1st and 2nd project year visible: login: gina.perzl; Passwort: 129129Ta. The German page, for example, was updated monthly so that students, teachers and parents had a very good insight into the project work. From September 2022, without TwinSpace and without a project results platform that was not working at the time, it was very difficult to continue to properly document the progress of the project for all partner countries. It has been said that this results platform will eventually work satisfactorily. Finally, all results from the 3rd year of the project (from September 2022) have now been uploaded to the European Result Platform. However, the project documentation and results from the first two years of the project can still be found in the TwinSpace. We would like to emphasize once again that the sudden shutdown of TwinSpace, almost without any warning, without a previously functioning alternative, severely restricts all partner schools and the entire project. This applies in particular with regard to the publication of the project results or the cooperation as a whole. The expected long time benefit of the project can be seen above all in the sensitization of the project participants with regard to healthy nutrition, mental health and the importance of sporting activities. The language and social skills acquired here are clearly of equal importance to the thematic achievements of the project for all project participants (students, teachers, parents, host family members). Especially in the first year of the project, an increase in ICT knowledge among the participants was noticeable, mainly due to the joint online meetings caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Not to be forgotten is the awareness of feeling as a common European unit, having got to know each other, understanding each other and having made friends within Europe.
