Final report summary

The Berufskolleg West of the city of Essen originally had most of its industrial trainees from AEG and Krupp. After coal mining ceased, the companies moved away or closed down, so the Berufskolleg had to reorient itself. A very large target group at Berufskolleg West are the needy students who cannot find an apprenticeship with no or very low school-leaving qualifications. This project is intended for this target group, as these pupils hardly get any other chance to visit foreign countries or travel in general. The school has 80 teachers including substitute teachers and 1396 pupils. ILS L.Acciaioli-L.Einaudi die Orton is a vocational secondary school in the Ortona region of Italy. It has a variety of technical specialisations in addition to the nautical specialisation. They train for industry in the region. The Turkish partner Gümüşhacıköy Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School is a vocational high school. All three schools have been participating in ERASMUS+ projects for years. Unfortunately, the Greek partner has withdrawn from the project due to the Corona rules in Greece. As a result, the mobilities have shifted a little, as can be seen in the timeline. Two of the mobilities were processed online. However, since we did not set fixed days but worked sporadically online in eTwinnig, we cannot calculate any costs. The results are very appealing. As described in the planning, the following needs actually emerged in the three schools: - The pupils of the Turkish school but also the German pupils were very little interested in science. Therefore, the traditional teaching methods were to be replaced by new ideas. - The students of the Italian school wanted to learn more innovative learning and teaching techniques to learn scientific work. - The pupils of our school need a lot of motivation, which they should get through experiments. The project was divided into phases for teachers only and phases for students. For the teachers: - Presentation of the educational systems of the countries - Comparison of science education curricula - Conditions for experimentation in the classroom - Research-development teaching method as a basis for science teaching that is problem-oriented and scientifically based on research - Cooperative learning as a way of leading pupils to (national and international) cooperation and personal responsibility For the pupils: - Many experiments that are simple but very impressive - Scientific work with experiments - Observing, recording and interpreting phenomena - Shared experiences in international groups even if it can be difficult in terms of language Evaluation of the objectives described in the application: 1. Cooperative learning was implemented as a new teaching method at Berufskolleg West. All pupils and teachers were involved in the methods. In addition to getting to know each other, the pupils worked on scientific topics such as "water", "fermenting" and experimented together. The teachers dealt with the principles of cooperative learning and divided methods according to the social goals. 2. The graduation rate this year increased slightly. Further goals need to be observed over a longer period of time. 3. 3. Through the methods of cooperative learning, the social goals were quickly achieved by the students and the communication goals were easy to implement. 4. the internationalisation of the schools was extended among the participating schools. 5. ideas for further KA202 applications were collected and already concretised.
