The principles of Olympia have the organisers to focus on sports for the European Youth Meeting in 2022. At the current camp, the different, typical sports in the participating countries were presented by the individual groups and supplemented with practical instruction up to the competition. This gave the young people the opportunity to get to know the participating countries interculturally through the example of sport, to practise tolerance especially in this area of performance and to strengthen each other through mixed-national groups as well as to get to know and assess their own strengths and weaknesses better. The young people were able to get to know the possibilities for meaningful leisure activities and low-threshold access for all in a practical way during this project. With films, PowerPoint presentations and explanations, the groups of the individual nations guided the other young people, for example, to play the Albanian national sport of dodgeball in mixed-national teams. France and Belgium present football on the artificial turf pitch of FC Olympia. They were given a theoretical insight into the world of sport, Olympia, which also had to be postponed due to corona, and the importance of exercise for everyday life in the context of health. Elements from the project "Healthy children in healthy communities" were specifically used by the camp management, as this was carried out in Bocholt until the outbreak of the Corona pandemic. Another goal was to strengthen their intercultural, linguistic and social competences. The camp was about introducing and implementing the idea of the Olympics in the mixed-national groups, so that a European togetherness is made possible. Therefore, the "winner's podium" was not a person or nation, but a mixed-nation group that won. In this seemingly simple sports project, the participants learned to know and classify their personal, social, linguistic, physical and abilities. By involving young people, their schools, friends and families, and sports clubs, the organisers of this project and the public staging of the competitions at sports facilities conveyed the Olympic idea locally, above all with the idea that "BEING THERE IS EVERYTHING".
