Objectives

Previously the reason to carry on this project was the extraordinary success we had in our previous project, " Intercultural Competencies for Social and Economical Inclusion" the representatives and participants of the last project that youth workers need more skills and improve intercultural understanding, social and economical responsibility through youth work should be promoted in Europe. But after the challenges we had during 2020 caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, we saw that it would be challenging to promote the first activity in Bonn and possibly the second in Denmark as we programmed. The representatives of partners organizations, after several online meetings, still wanted to give more in this partnership to train youth workers to get more capacity to work for young people to enjoy all the benefits of the EU actions, reflecting their aspirations, creativity and talents, as well as respond to their needs. This project was designed to be developed in 2 stages (one week of mobility of youth workers activity in Almada and one week in Copenhagen) and divided into three fundamental axes: 1- Importance of social and economical competencies of youth immigrants workers to increase the social-economical responsibility in their residence countries. 2- Competencies of youth immigrant workers on civic engagement, learning mobility, solidarity and intercultural understanding in the immigrants' communities and social neighbourhoods. 3- Participation and knowledge of social-economical development of immigrants community by providing social assistance. The aim was: - To improve the socio-economic inclusion of young immigrants with disadvantages as a way to make them more active citizens and more confident in their society, bringing together immigrant youth workers from Germany, Portugal and Greece to work on youth talent, social inclusion and better involvement of young people and at the same time give more expertise to work and design on their own lives, creativity and talents, as well as respond to their needs and inclusion, contributing to positive change in society. The objectives were: - To develop essential social and economical responsibility through Youth Work with immigrant groups and ways to provide better responses to the community in a disadvantaged situation. To contribute to eradicating poverty and all forms of racism and discrimination that negatively affect immigrant groups and promote their social and economical inclusion. - To increase knowledge about the intercultural context of the social-economical responsibility and immigrants youth inclusion in the European Youth Cooperation context, adding the availability among youth workers to work within immigrant communities. - To make 36 youth workers well prepared and gain confidence about inclusion and provide bases to approach and initiate a dialogue about poverty and social-economical exclusion problems among immigrants and refugees, by motivation and awareness about values underpinning youth work and social-economical responsibility. - To promote best practices of youth workers and activities and policies that are inclusive for young immigrants and youth refugees, especially young people with few opportunities. Although it was very challenging to fully implement the programme due to the Covid-19 impact, we kept qualifying actions to stimulate and encourage the need to identify that youth workers need more skills and improve intercultural understanding and social and economical responsibility through youth work should be promoted in Europe. These two years were the most challenging we have ever faced in our organization. However, our partners allowed us to see that irrespective of the Covid-19 pandemic, we still had to find appropriate and safe ways to implement the project and consider intervening in various international social and economical contexts affecting young immigrants and youth refugees in local, national and European context.
