WHY: As the two oranisations of the German-Albanian Youth Exchang had different goals ("school" versus "youth work") and different target groups ("strong school children / youngsters with fewer opportunities in Wiesbaden ) "Wiesbaden" was looking for a new Partnerorganisationin the field of Youthwork wich was found with the ARKA youth center in Shkodr. With this new exchange, Wi&you would like to give marginalized young people, mainly from the low-income district Wiesbaden-Biebrich, as well as young people from Wiesbaden EVIM youth residential groups, the opportunity to gain international experience. This happens here by exchanging views on the topics of “environmental protection / sustainability / climate change”. For the Albanian partner organization, the project is an opportunity to create an exceptional offer for young people in a neglected region (many official activities/programs focus on the capital Tirana), in which they - in a protected framework - collect international experiences and encounter with guests from another European country. At a Youthworkesr meeting of both partner organizations in Wiesbaden in April 2022, the main topics “environmental protection / Sustainability and climate change” were agreed. Due to the direct location of Wiesbaden at the river Rhine, the topics "flooding", "climate change", "(micro)plastic" are present for the young people from Wiesbaden-Biebrich. The international campaign "RhinCleanup" is currently also raising awareness in Biebrich for the topic "environmental protection". With the 2023 encounter in Albania, the applicants want to give these young people another platform for exchange and encounters in a European context. The project supports the young people from both countries get along with their future life in a globalized world. By experiencing a youth exchange in an organized setting, the project contributes to strengthening the European idea. GOALS: Contribution to equal opportunities: Strengthening the mobility of young people in the "Kommune goes international" target group "young people with fewer opportunities" / expanding key skills such as language skills (mother tongue and foreign languages), learning skills, social and civic* skills, cultural awareness and cultural expression / promoting Increase in knowledge about different ways of life in Europe / expansion of awareness for a sustainable approach to "people and nature/environment" / contribution to the development of long-term, diverse relationships between Shkoder and Wiesbaden-Biebrich / preparation of young people for their future in a globalized world through personality development and professional qualifications Elements / Strengthening of the European idea in the KGI target group
