Objectives

Our participants are living in rural areas in Lithuania and in Germany. Most of them have problems to accept humans from abroad in particular asylum seekers and refugees. Although they are not open minded to the European Union and her values. Because they don´t know enough about injuries of human rights in history and our challenges to take care for human rights today and in our common future. Therefore we wanted to interest them for the situation of youg refugees, asylum seekers and migrants and sensitized them for the meaning of human rights and the values of the European Union. At first our participants should learn to talk with young people from Europe (Germany/ Lithuania) and then with young migrants, refugees and asylum seekers. In order to sensitize our participants for the situation of young refugees, asylum seekers and migrants we decided to start the project with a historical part in Lithuania. In this part our main objective was, that our participants learn from our common history about reasons of escape and expulsion by the situation of Wolf Children. This German children lost their parents or were separated from them at end of World War II in Lithuania. The Wolf Children got support from Lithuanian farmers. They gave something to eat and to live to the Wolf Children in spite of danger to loose their farms or to be forced to hard labour in Sibiria by the Soviets. The participants should evaluate the biographies of Wolf Children in order to find out that this young people had to work hard, because they never had a chance to become skilled workers. Wolf Children normally couldn´t attend a school and some got Lithuanian names because the Soviets punished everyone, who helped a German very cruel and terrible. The participants should compare the situation of Wolf Children with the situation of young refugees, asylum seekers and migrants today In the contemporary part in Germany we planned to start with a workshop about about reasons of escape and expulsion today. After that participants should get to know the situation of young migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, who are attending our vocational school centre in Wurzen by interivewing them. In this way they should strengthen their ability of empathy and their willingness to take care for such peers. At first the participants interview young refugees, asylum seekers and migrants who are learning German at our school in order to prepare them for the labour market. In this way our participants get to know the situation and problems of young refugees, asylum seekers and migrants. Afterwards the participants interview young refugees, asylum seekers and migrants, who are trainees in agriculture (farmers, agroservice workers, animal husbandry workers and gardeners) at our school in Wurzen. At least they interview skilled workers, who were trainees at our school. We assumed that our participants are more interested if they are talking with young people with similiar vocational interests. Furthermore we wanted that the participants decide for a project product which can be used for support to young refugees, asylum seekers and migrants to decide for a trainee in agriculture and to do a training to it´s end. Because our training companies are looking for young people for work and your chance to integrate in our society is better if you are a skilled worker. Refugees, asylum seekers and migrants don´t know our dual system and don´t estimate to become a skilled worker because in their countries there is no system of vocational training. Furthermore we wanted that our training companies don´t stop to give young refugees, asylum seekers and migrants chances to become skilled workers because of the high break off training rate among them. This high rate of breaking off a training of young refugees, asylum seekers and migrants should be realized by the participants in order to find out the reasons and give help to them. For example it is really difficult to learn special terms like crop rotation for a not native speaker. Although we wanted to support our participants to improve their competences (e.g. speaking English) and skills by non-formal learnings. All of our participants have fewer opportunities. Some are discriminated by their social and some by their economical situation and some are both. Often their cognitive abilities are low too and their health is problematic. In order to strengthen their conscious when they improve their competences we decided to use the Youthpass from the very beginning of the project. Furthermore the participants will increase their employability and will be more acitve in the labour market by getting to know the vocational systems and companies in Germany and Lithuania Although we wanted to support and strengthen youth policy at local, regional and national by articles about the project in the papers and creating a sustainable project product. The participants should work in groups to choose fotos and write articles, At least we wanted that the participants become new friends in their group and from abroad.
