Capoeira Angola e.V.’s youth encounters have always been centred around current social and political issues. It should therefore come as no surprise that our 2020 youth encounter ‘Kilombo Europe – R.ock A.gainst the climate change’ (R.A.C)focuses on climate change. ‘You are stealing our future. […]We will not let you get away with this.’ This quote from climate activist Greta Thunberg provides the basis for our project. We will invite a group of 60 young people from 4 partner countries to our youth encounter. Jointly, we will discuss and give artistic expression to concepts for a life in harmony with nature and sustainability that our participants can apply in their lives. The aim is to create a dance performance that deals with these questions in an artistic format and present our work through social media to a broad European public. The youth encounter provides participants opportunities to use their creative potential to stand up for more environmental and climate protection. We wish to accompany them in becoming mature and self-confident European citizens who continue their creative work and social activism to promote climate protection and a sustainable relation with nature beyond the end of our project.
