Objectives

Both countries have political conflicts and ruptures in their history. Young people live here in confrontation with political, religious, cultural and social divisions within society. The topic "europe inside or outside-perspectives for a strong democratic coexistence" affects both countries directly, albeit at different levels. Against the country-specific background, it offered many creative points of contact to the everyday life of the young people and enabled them to get to know the history, politics and culture of the respective other country. The youth meeting wanted to give young people of these nations the possibility to leave the usual surrounding field, to go into the exchange and to become acquainted with young people of other countries and their different backgrounds with their differently stored social problem situations and divisions. The aim of the project was to create a culture of encounter and discussion that allows open, honest and understanding dialogues and enables everyone to work on a common Europe through participation. Young people exchanged with each other, discoverd cultural diversity and commonalities and thus developed a strengthening of European values, a common European identity, a stronger social unity within Europe and a European citizenship. The aim was to develop a reflective, tolerant approach to European coexistence and an approach to prejudice, racism and individual and social discrimination and their consequences. The overriding learning objective was hereby to promote political and social competence.
