Objectives

As we said in our application - “Koha për NISMA të reja” is Albanian and means “Time for new initiative”. The word “reja” for new also means young, the word “nisma” means also “starts”. So, then a new start through young initiatives! The title expresses the objective of the project to support empowerment and engagement of young people in their communities through the qualification of youth organisations in the field of civic education. The word “time” in the title highlights the urgent need for civic education due to antidemocratic and nationalist tendencies in all participating countries. This project was to enable 33 participants from 16 countries to achieve that all participants could articulate and use e.p.a. methodology to develop Civic education with their young people, in their organisations and in their communities. With this project we wanted to create good conditions to pass on experiences and ideas to especially young youth workers, to stimulate exchange among the participants so that they continue to get involved and discover new opportunities for civil society engagement - especially in working with disadvantaged youth. The project also aimed to motivate them to further develop their local community and youth work with the newly acquired competences and methods, to reflect and improve their own work - especially in the field of civic/ political education - and thus strengthen their organisations as a whole. The project should help to recognise the participants' commitment in an international context and in a European spirit (including the Balkans) and provide good opportunities to become part of a vibrant European/international network promoting European values and active citizenship.
