The idea for this project came up during the Youth Exchange "Migration through Arts" in Kranenburg in October 2019. The participants voted for the topic of mental health as a topic for the next year's project. As the topic was a strategic cornerstone direction for all partners, the idea to develop it together came to reality, but the Pandemic and war conflicts in Ukraine and Armenia interfered during the implementation phase. We wanted to carry out the YE “Peace Camp: the Art of Well-Being” to enhance effective stress management and self-help techniques in young people, to help them break the hold that stress had on their lives, so they could be happier, healthier, more productive, and peaceful. Balanced mental and physical health conditions would also allow young people to have better chances for future employment. We also wanted to bring youth from different EU and partner countries neighbouring the EU to share their experience, discuss the different issues concerning anxiety and stress in their regions, and come up with possible solutions and action plans that would positively affect their own lives. The main objectives of the “Peace Camp” project were: O.1. To create a space where young people could share and experience their feelings instead of bottling them up, which would help them to view stressful situations from a more positive perspective. O.2. To help young people identify the sources of stress in their life, which would help them to take stress under control. O.3. To show self-help techniques that would help the youngsters to stay in peace, such as meditation, yoga, and techniques of mindfulness. O.4. To motivate young people to maintain balance with a healthy lifestyle, such as healthy eating and regular exercising. O.5. To create a creative learning environment for peer learning. O.6. To motivate young people to take part in future Erasmus+ activities as a way to gain new knowledge, experience, and skills. The project was planned in 2 parts: the first part in Kranenburg, Germany, and the second one in Vayk, Armenia. The partners from these countries took a significant role in putting this application together, although all other participating organizations shared their insights about the topic and their vision of this YE. The German stage of the YE was supposed to be more focused on the general overview of the mental health issues in participating countries, general information about the stress reasons, methodologies of self-help, and the creation of unique plans for each participant's improvement. During the second part, participants should have dived deeper into the topic of frustration, appreciation, developing healthy habits, the influence of social media on well-being, and tried several art-therapy techniques. Between the 2 parts, participants were supposed to have “homework,” developed by them: include several well-being techniques into their daily routines. After the end of the project, participants were supposed to asked to share their own “success stories” about their own well-being improvement and positive changes in their lives. Unfortunately, the first part of the YE had to be cancelled and both parts merged into one keeping the main sessions for the implementation of the objectives.
