This e.p.a. International Youth Exchange (IYE) took place in Hamburg and in Flensburg Germany, between 1st to 14th August 2023 and brought together 59 young people from: Hamburg (DE), Ukraine (refugees currently living in Hamburg), Liverpool (UK), Lisbon (PT), Turku (FI), Warsaw (PL) and Sofia (BG). In a spirit of international friendship, the participants met with the goal to reflect and debate under the theme "good living". This activity addressed topics like Human Rights, Diversity, Equal Rights and Opportunities, enhancing new skills and values. The goal was to create an opportunity for and with young people to spend an enriching time together, while co-creating a cross-cultural environment, to share and reflect their dreams, to present and discover new talents, exploring their strengths and ambitions, to become aware of world views, to discover the wealth of community life and values we share. Together we explored and reflected on the questions: What kind of life do we want for ourselves, where do we see our place in the future, how does our social and political environment influence us, what is our role within our societies, as neighbours and world citizens? What do we want to change, how and with whom? How is a ‘good life’ linked with the fight for social justice? What are the values we support? And how can we share what we have learned, support our families, friends and communities in their hopes and dreams for ‘a good life’? The participants came from politically, socially and economically disadvantaged communities. In spite of their difficult contexts in their communities, they all showed and shared their willingness to use their full potential and be active citizens! All 7 groups and every single one of the young people brought a range of abilities and creativity, which was an added value to the programme of this IYE.
