This project was a continuation of network activity between the partners started at the end of 2018 and focused on history and memory culture issues as a topic for non-formal citizenship education. The partners recognised a special significance to realise this project now, when “history” become a tool in political confrontation in Europe and when the political powers in many of participating countries start to use history and memory in their own, quite often right-wing oriented, interests, and these issues became instruments for manipulations. Thus, the partners decided to use their network to contribute to the integration of more youth workers (and as result – young people from their communities), including those with fewer opportunities, in European discourses and empower them with competencies to deal with issues of history and memory in non-formal citizenship education to promote European values. More precisely the project had the following objectives: - to involve more youth workers from Europe and neighboring countries in discourse and practical work with issues of history and memory in non-formal citizenship education; - strengthen and widen our network by reflecting and disseminating our approach and practices through this project´s activities as well as by inviting new partners form new countries; - further work on understanding the role of memory culture in socialisation of youth and citizenship education as well as on the content and methodology of such work; - promoting the idea of international youth exchanges and empowering youth workers with competencies to initiate, design, implement and evaluate them.
