The two (of originally three) partner organizations wanted to allow the participants to continue their learning experience which they initiated at the youth exchange in January 2020 in Finland. More so since the participants chose in Finland equality as a new topic and decided they wanted to work on various reasons and ways of discrimination. This fits very well into the Erasmus+ goals of social inclusion and diversity awareness. Further they wanted to develop ideas on how they can make themselves and their opinions get heard or how they can get into dialogue with others -basicly how they can become active citizens. Due to Covid-circumstances we coundn't conduct this follow-up project the way we wanted to. Actually planned for summer 2020 as a folllow-up of the youth exchange conducted in January 2020 it had to be postponed. The actual participants had left already by 2021 to start trainings/further educational steps so they coulnd't be part of the project anymore. Aditionally the Finish partner organisation had left the consortium already by 2021 so that the exchange was left as a bilateral in the end. Anyway we conducted the project on a bilateral basis and could involve youngsters, who matched the actual target group and who changed the actual project conception a bit to make it "their" project. They were strongly invovled in the preparation and planning process. Qualifying and motivating youngsters to become active citizens was one basic goal which the partner organisations share. Hence we all integrate the youth exchanges in longer preparation and follow up processes of local youth work. This allows us to build trust between the participants, their parents and the organisations. Especially with the target group - youth that is so far not very present in international youth exchanges - we work with in Germany and Greece this is important. The youth exchange aimed to strengthen the participants’ skills of critical thinking, their ability to work in intercultural/diverse settings. The setting of the youth exchange allowed all involved to make new friends within Europe. These experiences will allow all involved to feel even more the European spirit. The actual group had planned to strengthen their friendships built up in Finland, but this couldn't be realized due to Covid. But now there were new friendships built. Especially the bigger part of the German group (6 out of 11) made within this project their first experiences with non-formal learning in an intercultural context and experienced that learning can be fun. We fostered this experiences by using non-formal methods. At the end of the youth exchange all involved in the exchange wanted to share their experiences with the public. They presented their graffitis produced during the youth exchange in an exhibition at KAOS Kulturwerkstatt, a prominent place of youth culture in the west of Leipzig. The two partner organisations want to continue the successful work they started in Finland. We have a similar understanding of participation, which made the cooperation on the pedagogical level very easy going. Also the organisational matters were handled very well in the partnership. In future, we want to involve the Finish partners again, who only withdrew due to covid.
