Objectives

LØS set out to accomplish several key objectives. - The primary goal was to build capacity to meet the increasing demand for education in ecovillages. This involved emphasizing certification in crucial disciplines such as Art of Hosting, and Sociocracy. Another focal point was to foster professionalization among educators in Denmark, strategically positioning LØS as a competent and credentialed entity. - The project also sought to enhance educators' capacity to bridge gaps between existing and commercial ecovillage movements. This was achieved by engaging external course providers to bring diverse perspectives into the training programs. - A significant objective was to inspire and strengthen educators' confidence. This involved preparing them to offer their expertise in various settings, including folk high schools and evening schools. The practical experiences gained from ecovillages are considered valuable contributions to sustainability education, but sometimes the ecovillage educators need a little push. Additionally, the project aimed to strengthen LØS' position in the European network. This was pursued by fostering networks, exploring 'job shadowing' for a peer-to-peer approach, and creating connections.

Background

The Danish Ecovillage Network (LØS) serves as the national organisation for ecovillages in Denmark. With a long lasting focus on the Ecovillage Design Education (EDE) program facilitated through GAIA Education, working with all dimensions of sustinability, The strategic approach involved motivating educators to expand their knowledge and skills, aligning with LØS' educational strategy and European Development Plan, thus diversifying the educational offers by the organisation. LØS seeks to contribute to Education for Sustainability Development (ESD) by engaging various stakeholders and providing qualified educators to different institutions. The goal is to strengthen its position as an educational actor, supporting the green transition. The Erasmus+ program is seen as a tool to expand the diversity and secure quality and motivation for engaging in educational programs. The project aims to increase professionalism among LØS' educators, closing competency gaps by leveraging international knowledge and inspiration. The project also aimed to develop LØS' mission on ecovillages as learning spaces, contributing to positive solutions amid current sustainability challenges and the green transition, through exchange abroad.
