Objectives

The main goal of the project is related to the fulfilment of the international cooperation development plan: With the project, Põlva School wanted to offer the teachers opportunities to learn about the experience of other European countries and to participate in training and bring new knowledge to our school. The goal of the project was to implement a renewed approach to learning through conscious leadership and creativity in the classroom. Both teachers and students need the knowledge and skills to be a self-directed person, using practical methods to achieve their goals. With the support of the project, we wanted to promote the following topics and needs: updated learning approach; efficiently managed lessons; the use of free and teacher-led creativity in subject lessons; cooperation and integration between teachers; value education and involvement; digital competences; international cooperation and its wider use in teaching. In order to achieve our goals, we planned to send 11 teachers on study tours to Europe to acquire new knowledge and experience.

Background

Põlva School is a young and developing local community school. The school staff wants to use different opportunities to fulfil the goals set for the school and by ourselves. The school's international cooperation development plan stipulates that Põlva School seeks for international learning opportunities, integration, cooperation of interest groups, and improvement of professional knowledge. People who work in schools are often overloaded with work and therefore feel burnt out. The school wants to encourage teachers to learn and try new methods to make their work more efficient and effective. Cooperation between teachers needs to be fostered and the introduction of new teaching methods needs wider attention.
