We wanted to improve the staff competence in implementing CLIL methodology and created a even more learner centered teaching. Also by participating in the mobility there was an opportunity for cultural exchange with other participants from various other European countries, to get new contacts, ideas and to learn from colleagues across Europe as it enhanced cross-border cooperation between the people. In addition it provided the possibility to learn about the best practices from other language teachers and we shared methods which were best applicable in language classes. Also our school had never before had a Erasmus + KA1 project before, so it was an opportunity for the foreign language teacher to develop a project writing skills and to implement the project and to coordinate it.
The school applied for the projects because there was a need for teachers to get practical tools for applying CLIL methodology in classroom and a to participate in a hands-on CLIL course that would provide good tools and materials to be used in the classroom. The foremost aim was to make the lessons more student orientated. Also it offered a chance to enhance the cooperation between teachers who teach different subjects and to make their teaching more insync. Also our school has many students who come from different linguistic backgrounds. We have students who speak Russian, English and Ukrainian languages at their home. Therefore there was the necessity to participate in a course that provided practical skills and tools for teachers as teaching in a classroom where there are multilingual students becomes a part of everyday norm for many teachers. In addition our teachers have attended few courses that offered CLIL practices and were mostly about the theoretical background of CLIL . To implement CLIL in the classroom also enables to use a more diverse and various pedagogical approaches to teach English to students and as most of the CLIL materials help to make the content of material more understandable for students.
