Objectives

With this project, it was hoped that students with special needs would also get the experience of study migration, this goal was fulfilled. Implementing the project provided an excellent opportunity to form professional specialists - through foreign practice and international cooperation of students, teachers and specialists. An opportunity to catch up with professional developments in Europe and to make sure that the vocational training at the Räpina School of Horticulture is at a good level and modern. The goals of the school's development plan are to improve the foreign language skills of educational staff and to develop an internship plan, as well as to continue and expand international cooperation. This project fulfills the goal of continuing students' internships abroad and maintaining existing cooperative relations with partner schools and companies. The goal of sending a teacher to the Netherlands for an internship for more than 30 days was also fulfilled. The horticulture teacher came back with experiences that help to further develop learning in the field of horticulture. For example, it is extremely important to know plant names in Latin, to see how work is done in a large international horticulture company. Now there is knowledge of how to better prepare students for such internships.

Background

Carrying out this project provided an excellent opportunity to form professional specialists - through foreign practice and international cooperation of students, teachers and specialists. This project was important for the Räpina School of Horticulture, because this time all students of Räpina School of Horticulture could apply for an internship abroad. Räpina School of Horticulture had 21 host partners from eight European countries in this project. Thanks to this project, Räpina School of Horticulture had the opportunity to: • give 41 students of Räpina School of Horticulture the opportunity to practice their profession in another educational institution, company and organization in another European country; • improve students' professional skills through international cooperation and work experience in another cultural environment; • support students in acquiring a profession and promote their personal development. Speaking of vocational education workers, we got: - to give 17 Räpina Horticultural School teachers/specialists the opportunity to intern in a foreign country in their taught specialty and gain experience in educational institutions and private companies of foreign partners; - to provide experience for both teaching and practice in the field of new and different technologies or technologies not used by us. A contest was organized in order to find students who could go on an internship abroad, and the students were informed about it both through the school's information channels and by personal e-mail. The participants were selected by the committee (on the basis of the documents submitted by the student and other criteria). Project participants were obliged to complete a foreign language course. This could be done either at school or in the internet environment (OLS and Speakly courses). The project manager was responsible for the implementation of the project, who communicated with partners, organized travel tickets, conducted preparatory briefings and concluded tripartite agreements. The project manager also controlled the progress of the internship, organized the subsequent reporting and prepared the final report of the project. Participants of the study migration gained new valuable professional knowledge. Their foreign language skills improved, their mind broadened, and their motivation to learn and develop increased. Thanks to foreign assignment, the distant cultural space became more understandable and new professional acquaintances, connections, partners were formed. School graduates have a better set of professional skills and career prospects when they enter the working life thanks to the study migration. The quality of education of those who have gone through study migration has increased considerably. Since the implementation of the project was strongly affected by the COVID-19 virus, not all planned study migrations could be implemented.
