Mobility, networking and international cooperation are the core components of THCC´s general institutional policy, development-, strategic- and action plans. The narrower specific objective of the project was to enhance learners' (2 learners) level of professional and global competence through mobility at the Oberstufenzentrum Elbe-Elster in Germany. International co-learning and participation in international mobility enables graduates to acquire global competences in addition to achieving the learning outcomes of the curriculum. Global competence is a multidimensional field of study covering the three dimensions needed to build productive and respectful relationships with people from different cultures. These dimensions are knowledge and understanding, skills and attitudes. The broader goal of the project was to increase cooperation between THCC and Oberstufenzentrum Elbe-Elster in Germany; facilitate exchange of knowledge and best practices; and create opportunities for new research and project ideas by close communication between partners.
Tallinn Health Care College´s (THCC) internationalization strategy 2022-2026 is based on the long-term development strategy "Estonia 2035", the Education Development Plan 2021-2035, the Institutional Accreditation Assessment Decision 2020, the program Erasmus+ 2021-2027, and the development plan of the higher education institution 2022-2026. In addition to the main priorities like the creation of an international network, internationalization of curricula, the creation of an international learning environment and the development of the professional and global competences of staff, the objectives of internationalization require training health, medical and social workers with global competences. This involves understanding and respecting different cultures, developing intercultural communication skills, understanding diversity and being able to adapt to different working environments, i.e. training and developing professionals so that, in addition to their professional skills they could better cope with international health issues and global health challenges. Development of learners' professional, personal and global competences through Erasmus+ programme learner exchange is one of the tools for achieving these objectives.
