The main reason for applying the project was to improve the knowledge and skills of educational staff of Tartu University Museum in order to be better promulgators of scientific worldview and communicators between heritage and society. We believe that learning, especially for educators and communicators, is above all about communication and sharing experiences. We wanted to learn from good practices of other museums and found the Erasmus+ project to be a good opportunity to make our dreams about study trips real.
Tartu University Museum as a science museum is devoted to enlightening people about scientific heritage and the role of science in society. The educational role of the museum is a mission of whole museum staff, especially educational and communication teams. During the era of information wars and emergence of pseudoscience it is necessary for people working on the field of education and communication to learn constantly about ways of presenting and mediating what scientific achievements and it's impact in society. In a small country like Estonia we are very well aware of our limited resources and we are eager to learn from the experiences of other people. As follows, our educational team decided to go out and gather experiences from other museums . Erasmus+ Adult project was offering a good and flexible opportunity to widen our knowledge and experience and learn about best practices in European museums.
