Objectives

Unemployment is a crucial economic factor for a country; youth unemployment is often examined separately because it tends to be higher than unemployment in older age groups. It comprises the unemployment figures of a country’s labor force aged 15 to 24 years old (i.e. the earliest point at which mandatory school education ends). Typically, teenagers and those in their twenties who are fresh out of education do not find jobs right away, especially if the country’s economy is experiencing difficulties (Statista, https://bit.ly/30PkIrv). Surging unemployment rates in Europe have contributed massively to intra country migration where young people from rural areas in need of employment opportunities as well as different social amenities relocate to bigger cities in the search for opportunities, financial stability and social emancipation. Our project which brings together 8 European countries of whom some are positioned very high on the recently published data on European Youth's Unemployment (for example, Greece, Spain, Italy) - data by Statista (https://bit.ly/30PkIrv). The project seeks to help issues of rural unemployment through youth's education on innovative entrepreneurial practices that can be sources of employment for the youth. This will also help reduce unemployment rates in rural areas, reduce the surging rates of brain drain in european rural areas, empower young people to contribute to community development as well as promote citizen participation. Our main objective here is to organize a project where young people are initiated to initiative entrepreneurial methods and skills that the participants can contextualize and adapt to their own entrepreneurial ideas to projects in their rural areas. This is in order to help the participating young people find a way out of unemployment, help reduce rural brain drain as well as promote their active engagement and participation in rural development. In this respect, our main passion is to involve more and less experienced organizations and create an environment where partners will be able to share their expertise and educate participants in order to enable them with the entrepreneurial skills that will be relevant to their backgrounds. Participants will get empowered to change their unemployed situations as well as become multipliers of the competencies that they will acquire during the project. Specific objectives: SO1: Raising awareness about the current trends in the European and the national labour markets among the youngsters (18-30y old) from the participating countries; SO2: Empowering 40 youngsters and youth workers from 8 countries to think and act as entrepreneurs by raising their capacity to turn ideas into actions in the context of rural development; SO3: Creating a space of discussion and sharing in the field of innovative entrepreneurial practices from the 8 participating countries through mapping techniques and debates; S04: Empower participating youth to be community developers and empowered citizens that participate in community building through their different actions as well as their entrepreneurial activities.
