One of the main points we wanted to achieve by implementing the project was promotion of a preventive approach to conflicts and violent behavior among young people within the network of youth workers, who would serve as multiplayers: after gaining the knowledge, understanding, thinking along about the topic on the TC, youth workers would come back to their home counties/communities/work places and use the methodology/approach offered during the TC in their everyday work with youngsters. Moreover, the knowledge/methods/approaches would be shared in their professional networks with the help of dissemination activities. The ultimate goal was to equip the participants with the ready to use methodology and understanding of it's adaptation by mixing theory and practice. On the project design stage we've mapped the topics needed to be covered using the interviews with youth workers. We've discovered that overall the topic of conflicts and violent behavior creates a lot of struggles among the youth workers, as they lack competences and self-confidence in conflict management. This leads to ignoring the problem and escaping from it, be it a small conflict or a conflict of a larger scale, that could lead to the escalation of the initial problem that could have been solved with the help of preventive methods. The responses gained from the youth workers helped us to filter the main topics needed to be covered: - the need for understanding of what are the different types of violence - ability to identify the triggers in the conflict that may lead to aggression, abuse, battering - the need for the easy to use/effective methodology on recognition of the triggers of the violent behavior at the beginning stages and it’s prevention Moreover, the initiative was seen as a follow-up and further development of the topic and our work on it, as partners' cooperation on the topic is ongoing (e.g. KA2 project "Prevention ++", also focusing on the topic of preventive education for youth). Thus, this project was also seen as strengthening of international cooperation between partners in the field of preventive education and it's promotion with the focus on violence and conflicts. The objectives were as follows: - to equip 24 youth workers with relevant competencies for recognising, understanding and preventing the occurrence (or the potential of occurrence) of interpersonal conflicts generated by abusive and violent behavioral patterns that they would be able to use in their daily work with groups of young people from different backgrounds (rural areas, ethnic and religious minorities, unemployed or facing poverty, victims of bullying or violence, precarious family background) - to provide youth workers with knowledge, understanding and confidence on how to start a conversation about violence with young people and which methods to use as an aid by going through the specific scenarios and case studies that would foster a deeper understanding of the concept of violence and how to find possible solutions to tackle it - to strengthen the cooperation between the partners by creating an international network of youth workers motivated to initiate new international actions that would prevent the occurrence of violence. Overall, we consider the project to be successful. This statement comes both from our observations, feedback we received from the participants and partners. Out of 24 participants 19 submitted the feedback form with the average rate of satisfaction with their project participation being 4.5 out of 5 points. The feedback form in included to annex.
