Objectives

The activities of the project follow our Internationalisation Strategy. Our goals: - By 2020, each curriculum group will have mutually supportive cooperative relations with vocational educational institutions and companies abroad. - Involving new partners is systematic and proceeds from the needs of curriculum groups and the needs of the curricula. - International cooperation supports the development and implementation of the curricula. - Cooperation with the school’s partners is visible to target groups. - A longer-term cooperation goal is to develop and implement international curricula in the school’s curriculum groups and complementary training. The following mobilities and activities were planned: - short-time learning mobility at a school and/or company for 28 students and/or graduates; - short-time learning mobility at a school and/or company for five vocational education experts; - two representatives of the world of work (horticulture curriculum group, florist and landscape gardening courses); - PRO mobility for two vocational training students; - a training of intercultural competence for all trainees.

Background

We cooperate with international partners in line with the general goal of the school: Hiiumaa Vocational School is a school situated in a former manor which enjoys a good reputation and provides high-quality education for every student at the school. The project “Bringing together the vocational education and the world of work” helped improve international cooperation at Hiiumaa Vocational School, which is based mainly on the school’s development goals, the main process – guiding students’ development – and the pedagogical concept set forth in the school’s development plan. The learning mobility will add value to the vocational education at Hiiumaa Vocational School. Traineeships in a real working environment are crucial for students' growth. The more experience they have with different companies the better they are prepared for work life and the wider their horizon. The opportunity to work abroad in foreign culture and language settings provides a challenge for each participant as well as an opportunity for both personal and professional development. Hiiumaa Vocational School wanted to carry on with implementation of the goals of Internationalisation Strategy, as well as keep up the quality of our study environment.
