Objectives

At the time of applying for this project, as the holder of the Charter, we were able to apply for Erasmus mobilities in a simplified manner. We applied for more mobilities than we actually were granted. Due to the global pandemic, the realization of mobilities was chaotic and several funded projects were running parallelly. The project, originally planned for 2 years, was extended to 3 years. Erasmus mobility projects help us to move towards the goals of the Erasmus plan that we have formalized for ourselves (plans until 2027). In order to fulfill the goals of the organization's international relations strategy 2019-2024, we plan significantly to increase mobilities in Europe and work harder on international cooperation. When participating in a Mobility in Europe, we hope to fulfill the following objectives: - the learner's ability to think independently develops - creation and implementation of new learning tools - the learner's social competences develop - better chances in the European labor market - smoother implementation of new curricula with more competent staff - Continued involvement of EU project funds to ensure the mobility of both students and teachers. - foreign language skills of students and employees improve Increasing professional competence of our employees through international experience is necessary for shaping the values in our students as the set goals in our school's quality policy. In the future, learners who have participated in mobilities will have more opportunities to develop themselves outside Estonia, their competitiveness will improve.

Background

One of the important activities in the national "Lifelong Learning Strategy Vocational Education Program" is the development of international cooperation and information exchange. Since January 26, 2015, the school has a quality management system that complies with the ISO 9001 standard. The school is convinced that at least 2 weeks of work experience in a foreign country is part of a good vocational education. We would like to see a situation where all students of vocational secondary education have the opportunity to complete 1 part of their internship outside Estonia. Our school`s international relations strategy for the years 2019-2024 forsees student internships that take into account the needs of all curriculum groups in order to develop students' general competencies and ability to work in a multicultural environment and facilitate flexible labour movement in Europe. In order to fulfill these goals, we are gradually increasing Erasmus mobilities in Europe. We contribute more energy into preparation of our students for life, to broaden horizons of our teachers and to use efficently school's good technical base. International cooperation is closely intertwined with the daily learning, education and development work of vocational education and supports the acquisition of specialties acquired at VIKK. The needs and directions for the development of the internationalization process are described in the VIKK development plan, the quality management system manual and the school's internationalization strategy. With the Erasmus+ accreditation, in 2020 we have formalized the goals of the Erasmus Plan. Making use of all ways of Erasmus mobilities is one of the largest and most important parts of the school's internationalization process.
