Objectives

1. We acquired a deep awareness of the role of the teachers in managing cultural diversity at school; in order to provide our teachers with appropriate teaching methods and strategies to meet the demands of a heterogeneous class. 2. In the field of Literature, especially, new teaching approaches acquired so that the lesson keeps up with new technologies and serves modern teaching objectives fostering collaboration and dialogue. 3. Through drama, participants acquired the skills to coordinate and activate emotional management within groups, in a fun and creative way, and to use expressive tools in different educational contexts. 4. Both drama and new forms of art (video, photography, etc.) are also addressed to the needs of students who have difficulties with their social and communication skills (e.g. students with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, emotional and behavioral difficulties). 5. Those new tools can be "use" Literature /Art in an innovative way for the sake of awareness, appreciation and respect for the environment.

Background

The subject of Literature (and Art in general) at today's school is a matter of contradiction: while theoretically upgraded, it tends to have a rather secondary, peripheral role in the increasingly technology-oriented, modern school in everyday practice. If one adds the difficulty of teaching Literature and Art to minority students in our area, given their incomplete knowledge of the Greek language, then this subject seems to become even more marginal. On the other hand, however, we could turn to the works of literature and art to understand and interpret the whole world, our daily lives and our place within it. In this application we aimed to upgrade and develop Literature and Art primarily in terms of self-knowledge, empathy, environmental awareness and interculturality they can promote. Literature lessons and Art can be linked to all school subjects and become a privileged tool to refine morals and values in a multicultural society. All the above can lead to a school reality without exclusion or stigmatization, for the benefit of everyone as a person, as a member of a community and as a unit on the planet.
