We wanted to offer teachers the opportunity to gain an educational experience in another country. In particular, our teachers needed to come into contact with other "realities", other educational environments, to be informed about novel practices, and to develop and use critical thinking in an efficient manner. Our teachers needed to improve their skills in order to promote the empowerment of all our students in an inclusive school environment. To this end, they needed to develop their intercultural awareness so as to cope with all the challenges in the increasingly differentiated modern class.
Our school has developed a long-term program to provide the teaching staff with opportunities to participate in professional development programs in order to promote collaborative learning and prepare teachers for future European and international programs. We mainly applied for this project in order to inform our teachers about different educational systems and educational practices in other European countries and to exchange best practices regarding the inclusion of all students in the school environment, multiculturalism, and differentiated teaching.
