Objectives

As far as the expected results are concerned, we believe that the skills and competences that would and could be acquired in this project will help school staff to increase the engagement and participation of pupils in the learning process in order to become more responsible for their own learning and improve their overall performance. In addition, the sense of initiative, emancipation and self-esteem, as well as their motivation for participation in future education or training, the improvement of their foreign language skills, the enhancement of their intercultural sensitivity and their sensitivity to values of the EU, as well as their active participation in society. This project would and has already provided staff with the necessary tools to achieve the above objectives. The results will be disseminated throughout the school, and the local community. We also believe that the long-term benefits for the local community and the wider public will encourage young people to participate in European democracy, enhance inclusion by reducing early school leaving, promoting cooperation and mobility members of the local community and consolidating the importance of lifelong learning through continuing education and self-improvement.

Background

Our school is located on a relatively isolated island with few educational opportunities for teachers and students. Thus the issue of internationalization and its understanding interculturalism, integration and inclusion play an important role in both life expectancy at school and in society at large. According to the above we consider that the basic educational need of our school is to acquire the ability to organize and manage European programs so that we are able to carry out student movements abroad (in various sectoral programs), enabling them to reap the benefits of European programs. At the same time we are at a crossroad of educational changes in Greek training, resulting in increased responsibilities as well as skills for the teachers who take positions of responsibility in education. This is how we consider the Erasmus + actions the medium that can give the school opportunities and possibilities contact and knowledge of other educational systems..
