Objectives

The aim of the action plan we were submitting was to: • Strengthen intercultural awareness. • We participate more actively in society. • Increase self-empowerment and self-esteem. • Cultivate the spirit of initiative. • Increase incentives to participate in future programs after the mobility period in abroad. • Understand the broader interface between formal and non-formal education and vocational education training. • We are informed about the European project and the values of the EU. • Improve the techniques of supporting a democratic and open school in the community. • Improve the qualifications of the teaching and educational staff as well as improve the procedures. recognition and validation of the knowledge acquired during the period of education abroad with the aim of more effective management of issues arising in classrooms.

Background

We evaluated the needs of the teachers in combination with the inclinations and interests of the students and we were led to find that the acquisition of pedagogical tools and modern educational methodologies with a European orientation would mobilize the interest and attention of the students in the school environment on the one hand and the other they would strengthen teachers scientifically and professionally. The traditional teaching methods in the Greek public school we judged that they need to be enriched with more modern, innovative, European activities. The contact with institutions and organizations of education in Europe would be a source for drawing and implementing good practices in our own school as well. The trainings that the teachers participated in in their educational district were more theoretical, while there was no experiential learning, as they found that now the acquisition of knowledge and the cultivation of skills is achieved only through experiential experience.
