We found that most of our students and their families do not value the cultural heritage of our country and we decided to work on it and educate ourselves about it. Another very big issue we identified in our school unit was that a number of our students had educational, behavioral, social or emotional needs that affected their learning, participation and ability to access education successfully. To meet the needs of our students, we sought innovative practices so that both students and teachers feel supported. By implementing this project we sought to resolve the following needs: • Reduction of school failure • Highlighting our cultural heritage in terms of intercultural education and the assistance of intergenerational learning. • To simultaneously highlight the social and educational value of the European cultural heritage. • Training and professional development of the teachers of our school unit in innovative curricula and new educational methods. • Adopting good practices from schools and educational environments with similar needs.
Desfina Primary School is a school of the Municipality of Delphi. Our school has 54 students and decided to apply for the European Development Program "My Cultural Heritage, My Sustainable Future" for the following reasons: 1. We live in a special place, known worldwide, with a rich cultural heritage (tangible and intangible). Great and unique monuments surround us, most importantly the archaeological site of Delphi designated by UNESCO as a "world cultural heritage site". But we found that both most of our students and their families do not give the value it deserves to the cultural heritage of our country and we decided to highlight it because it is our sustainable future. We decided that this important capital of our country, our cultural heritage, should be used as an active and innovative means of learning to achieve our goals 2. Another very large problem we have identified in our school unit is that many of our students have educational, behavioral, social or emotional needs that affect their learning, participation and ability to access education successfully.
