According to most research, stem training helps to develop students' algorithmic thinking, their critical ability and improve problem-solving. So our main goal is for our students to develop these skills because these are part of the skills that are necessary for the people of the next century. We also seek to improve the digital skills of our students so that they are digitally aware in an era where this is deemed necessary. So we would like to frame these children's contact and knowledge about digital skills with the increase in environmental awareness and empathy that our students should have as well as the empowerment of girls' participation in these actions. Through the two selected seminars, we hope that we will become the strongest in the areas mentioned above as well as in achieving the management of this knowledge not only among the teachers of our own school but also in general among the teachers of our region as we also have the support of the coordinator Mrs. Katsigianni for conducting similar in-school training.
After our participation in various code and programming actions such as our participation every year in the European code week as well as in the European stem Discovery week we saw that the children showed a special interest in their participation in them. This was the first motivation for us teachers with more than 25 years of service to make a turn to get to know stem education and how we could integrate it into various school programs. We also noticed that there was clearly a higher participation of boys in these activities, where they took place outside the school timetable, so we wanted to give a greater incentive for the higher participation of girls in these activities. We also noticed the children's desire for contact with nature and how much they are aware of various environmental problems. Wanting to combine all of this, we outlined the subject of the training we wanted to carry out. So with these criteria, we selected training programs that have to do with Steam, robotics, and the 17 sustainable development goals of UNESCO with an emphasis on climate change.
