Objectives

By implementing the plan, our goal is for our school to contribute to a broader educational restructuring, creating a culture of trust, motivation for self-improvement for teachers and students, and a guidance system that will lead to responsible and meaningful communication between those involved. Through the development of digital skills, but also the strengthening of social intelligence, our goal is for teachers to acquire a vision that will contribute to the adoption of innovations in the operation of the school at all levels and of course to the facilitation of the transition of the school to the digital age. The application for our participation in the program aimed to achieve the empowerment of teachers and the improvement/renewal of their skills, in order to make the education provided by the school unit more interesting and innovative. The structured seminar cycles and the overall implementation of the project aimed to: 1. teachers to come into contact with techniques, tools, methods that will improve school life through the appropriation of the concept of coaching (active listening, collaborative culture, personal learning plan) and to act as multipliers of knowledge, but also guarantors of a environment of safety and trust and facilitators of student and teacher personal development through collaboration and mentoring/support. 2. the experiential communication (visits to schools, attending classes, talking with teachers and students) with an internationally recognized as a successful education system, the Finnish language to give the possibility to adopt good practices and adapt them to the Greek education system and specifically to ours school unit 3. through the use of effective digital tools and the development of ICT teaching skills we felt that it would boost the confidence and professional development of teachers and be really effective in achieving our goals. The cognitive empowerment of teachers in innovation models and experimentation in practice with the possibilities offered for teaching and learning by the use of mobile devices and the utilization of digital resources and educational digital applications were among the intentions of the implementation of the plan. 4. the possibility of attending educational activities in European countries with another culture and the communication and cooperation with teachers from different educational systems was an additional reason for submitting the application of this project. Our aim was for this valuable experience to support the interface with our colleagues in other countries (constitution of communication groups) and to be an important capital for the development of partnerships and the strengthening of the European presence of our school. 5. the main objective was to strengthen the ties and cooperation between all those involved in school life, students, teachers, parents, local bodies, local society in order to achieve a transformation of attitudes and perceptions towards the school and the teacher's work. In addition, taking initiatives that will strengthen the school's extroversion and its connection with other schools in the wider region. 6. finally, the main aim was the development of the school's digital policy with an emphasis on security and efficiency/benefit in order to support the improvement of the learning process, the communication of all involved, but also the protection of copyright and personal data.

Background

The main reasons why we applied for participation in the programme are the increased and urgent need for continuous and in-depth training of teachers, in order to be able to manage the constant changes and demands of a constantly changing environment and to enhance teacher empowerment, to escape the obsolete role of knowledge transmitter and become a 'coach' in new knowledge environments and a facilitator in the creation of a school culture with a shared vision that is supportive (scaffolding) for all members of the school community. In addition, empowering our school teachers through the use of effective digital tools and through the development of teaching skills in the use of ICT. Our school does not have enough experience and knowledge, but also the skills and competences needed to use ICT and needs to be taught the most effective and innovative approaches through practical applications in order to improve the quality of teaching, study and learning process, while aspiring to become a "leader" in our region It is important for teachers to know how to manage these sources and regain their faith in their role and function. The use of digital media cannot, of course, be an end in itself in education, but these skills are considered essential for educators and students in the 21st century. Finally , our aim is to strengthen our efforts for European enlargement through Erasmus+ mobility and learning opportunities, using knowledge about the functioning of other European schools, adopting 'good practices' and opening a channel of continuous communication with colleagues in and outside the country. Empowering teachers through project 1. provides the basis for the development of 'coaching' tools to unlock the potential of each student, but also to further enhance collaboration between all stakeholders (students, teachers, parents) in a supportive environment,2. enables projects to develop innovative ways of digital learning, utilising practices in the use of technological media that will improve the teaching approach, enhance collaborative learning and creativity. 3. brings teachers into contact with the cultures of other European countries and the specific parameters of their educational systems, enables dialogue and the development of links that renew teachers' professional identity, enhance knowledge and skills. In this way, the educator will be able to analyse, evaluate and communicate his/her findings and achievements in order to achieve the dissemination of knowledge and the establishment of European partnerships that will expand his/her horizons. Therefore, the educational organisation will benefit on multiple levels by improving the work provided, the relations between all stakeholders, the methods - tools - techniques, the cooperation and contact with the local community, its international presence.
