Background

The Health Tourism sector has undergone a dynamic renaissance, reaching nowadays to be established as one of the most dynamically developing economic activities worldwide, of great added value, offering enormous opportunities to all stakeholders and business sectors. Medical Tourism - Thermal tourism, as a dominant form of alternative health tourism, is particularly important not only for the prevention, maintenance and improvement of health, but also for the treatment of various diseases, while it also acts as a supplement to medicine, as well as drug treatments . The existence of important thermal springs in the Greek area, together with the excellent natural environment and climate, provides great possibilities so that, with their utilization, they can evolve from therapeutic centers that are today into holiday health centers on the model of the large health tourism centers of Central Europe , i.e. reception centers for bathers of all ages for treatment, prevention, rest and recreation. According to measurements, around 24 million Europeans are trafficked every year for reasons of physical and mental health in EU countries, either through their insurance funds, or individually. Since October 2013, the borders for Health Tourism have been opened to all EU countries, with the result that it is now at the center of intense competition. Without a doubt, the development of Health Tourism in Greece is expected to begin in the coming years to occupy an increasingly large part and to employ more and more people around this sector. Health tourism concerns, not only people who are old and have health problems, but also preventive people who use SPA services for health and well-being Based on the above developments and the trend / need that currently exists in the tourism industry, we were led to choose the training subject entitled: "Holistic Approach to the Provision of SPA Services".
