Participation in this mobility project contributed to the achievement of the following objectives: • to know the operation, repair and maintenance of the various main devices in the production processes of absorption of recyclable materials, • apply technological solutions in waste management and recycling units, • keep records of the materials they receive, but also of the intermediate and final products for recycling, • strictly apply Health and Safety guidelines, • to raise awareness among customers and the public, conveying the message of the necessity for recycling
Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) has been identified as a priority waste stream, due to its hazard, the rapid increase in its volume and the significant environmental impacts caused by the production of electrical and electronic equipment due to its high energy consumption . The provisions of PD 117/2004 (Government Gazette 82 A) and PD 15/2006 (Government Gazette 12 A), in compliance with the provisions of Directives 2002/96/EC (WEEE), 2002/95/EC (RoHS) and 108/ 2003/EC, impose the separate collection of WEEE from household waste and their specialized treatment, with the aim of their utilization. Already and based on the existing new institutional framework for "alternative management", sorting programs and new facilities are being created in Greece for the treatment-utilization of waste, while the collection and transportation of waste are organized on a different basis. These new developments in the field of waste management demonstrate the NECESSITY of having specialized personnel to cover jobs in a wide range of activities related to the "alternative management" of waste. The educational needs we sought to satisfy through the project are: - the implementation of the prescribed waste collection procedures, - the temporary storage of materials in accordance with environmental standards, - the implementation of transformation, sorting, classification and transfer of materials, - the practical application of their knowledge in real working conditions, as their training is limited to theoretical training and applications only in laboratories at school. 20 IT, electrical and electronics students took part in the mobility, who went to Spain for 15 days.
