Laboratory training requires upgraded and updated qualifications for teachers who, following the evolution of technology, should provide updated knowledge and be able, with appropriate interventions, to keep the interest of the trainees and highlight the professional fields that will dominate the market and will favor the smooth integration of graduates into the labor market. For the teachers and the school in general, we wish to increase the level of internationalization and give them the opportunity to get to know educational systems and successful practices which they could possibly transfer to the daily educational practice. For trainees we try to provide opportunities to gain professional knowledge and experience as well as to increase the possibility of employment. For both, we want to broaden the knowledge in the recognition and accreditation systems, the implementation of the Europass Mobility certificate, the documents of the ECVET system and the use of the professional knowledge and experience gained in the work environments. Finally for all the paricipants to krealize the importance of the development of soft skills at work.
The 1st Patras Laboratory Center is a modular organization that supports the laboratory training of 6 Vocational Schools' students in the wider area. In recent decades, the region has been characterized by deindustrialization and low economic growth, which creates a suffocating environment for professional development, especially in low-skilled occupations. VET graduates do not have a clear horizon of educational and professional development and do not have a road map of actions and options after graduation. Due to the geographical location of the country and the specific region (Southern Greece), students do not have the opportunity to travel to other EU countries due to cost and time, and consequently to join workplaces or education and spend a period in another EU country which will increase their knowledge and experiences in the specific fields. Teachers respectively, especially those with many years of service and who have not updated their knowledge in technical matters, pedagogy, organization and administration matters, need to travel to other countries, get in touch with educational systems, and get experience upon the way of organization and operation and the objectives.
