As members of the Erasmus generation, we have not only experienced an exchange period abroad, but we have kept in contact with generation after generation of Erasmus students, with whom we interact on a daily basis. As a result, we have gathered a great deal of knowledge when it comes to what the Erasmus programme can offer to its beneficiaries. Through Jumpstart project, we wanted to put that knowledge into practice and reveal to young people how they can change their lives on a personal as well as a professional level and spread the values of the program, the values of the European Union, to more young people, making them multipliers of the Erasmus spirit. In the wider sense, youth unemployment is a widespread problem, tackled by different countries in the context of different types of economies. As a result, young people tend to be disadvantaged when entering the labour market due to limited or no work experience, a mismatch between the skills that they possess and those demanded by the labour market, a lack of career management/ job search skills or access to professional networks. In Greece, as a result of the crisis, the NEET-youth rate has nearly doubled since 2007 when it was close to the EU average. It went up from 11 % to more than 20 % in 2013. This was twice as high as the Europe 2020 target set at 10 %. For these reasons as well as our willingness to support and engage other young people to get a sense of Eu identity, share Eu opportunities and enhance openness about the wider European opportunities and employability around Europe we decided to design Jumpstart. The objectives of Jumpstart were: -Support the employability of NEEts and young people through Erasmus+ opportunities -Raise awareness in Erasmus+ and European opportunities and enhance EU identity -To bring together 30 young people mostly NEETs and geographical obstacles -To enhance the 30 participants’ skills and competences through non-formal education in EU identity and employability -To develop knowledge, skills and attitudes to be more employable and open to Eu identity through non-formal education -To bring together 6 partner organizations to exchange know-how in employability and EU opportunities -To promote the results of YE to the stakeholders and the local community. After the exchange, the participants will promote the results of the YE in their countries and organizations The YE was directly linked to KA1 priorities and Greek priorities as the programme: -Reach out to marginalised young people, promoting diversity, intercultural and inter-religious dialogue, common values of freedom, tolerance and respect and sense of initiative of young people as we focus on NEETs and people with fewer opportunities to get a sense of Identity -Provide support to fewer opportunities for youth groups in order to improve their skills and their personal development, so that they are able to act effectively in the field of youth, civil society and the labour market. -Raise awareness in Erasmus+ among the participants and the local community and enhance the use of YouthPass as a tool of reflection and learning deliverable. -Empower young people's participation through active engagement in their local communities as we will encourage youth to connect with local schools to disseminate the YE.
