Objectives

The reality in Europe is that young people have to decide early, usually when they are 16 or 17, what career path they want to follow. Once they have chosen a field of study, it is extremely difficult to change it and take a different path in the future. In the event that a student recognizes during the first year at the University that the field does not suit him, the only option he has is to repeat the admission process at the University or to remain in the faculty in which he is. This results in a large majority of European students graduating from University without what they have studied fitting or satisfying them. Also, the partners of the "My Purpose Project" have recognized a common problem in our countries: youth workers lack the competencies (knowledge, attitudes and skills) to help young people find a sense of purpose and satisfaction in their work , but also to connect (the young people) their interests with employability. This project was created in recognition of the need for youth workers and people active in the youth field to support young people they work with and help them overcome their sense of insecurity and 'being trapped ' in a career that does not suit them, supporting them to discover their purpose and interests and to connect those with their professionality and satisfaction in their professional lives. This project aimed to improve basic competencies, with particular relevance to the labour market, entrepreneurship, employment and the contribution of youth workers to a cohesive society. The main objectives of the project are to give the participating youth workers the opportunity to develop competences to improve their work with young people, in particular in helping them find their purpose and the right career orientation, based on their own interests and talents and secondly, to give participating organizations the opportunity to have a better qualified staff and thus improve the services and training opportunities they offer to young people. The specific objectives of the project were to support the participating youth workers in: - increasing their knowledge of purpose identification, its relationship to employability, entrepreneurship and early school leaving potential and how to unlock young people's potential for their working lives. - developing their skills so they can support young people to define their purpose and unlock their potential for personal and professional fulfillment - better understanding the importance of discovering and pursuing purpose in order to reach personal and professional fulfillment
