Objectives

After the previous projects about sustainability Greenovation, Tree of life and our first TC No box we realised that we, participants and our partners are talking about climate change but very few now start acting upon it. In that sense, we decided to design a project to raise awareness about climate change and give the tools and the competences to youth workers to empower youth to make projects to mitigate climate change and be part of global action. Climate change is the biggest challenge we are facing in the upcoming years. 2020 was a critical year to start making decisions as humanity to work together for a better future. At the European level, the New Green deal is being discussed to design the transition of Europe to become carbon neutral by 2050 and at the global level everyone is anticipating as we are writing the report now in COP27 in Egypt to decide more ambitious goals towards climate adaptation policies around the world. In this context, observing the need to act and make the movement bigger we decided to give the tools and competences to youth workers to support youth to become part of the solution. Objectives The objectives of this project were: -32 youth workers to understand the interconnectedness of climate change and learn the scientific data of the issue -to raise awareness of climate change among youth workers, youth leaders to support youth to be part of the global action of climate change -to equip youth workers with the skills to support youth to take action towards climate mitigation (LCA analysis, sustainability & climate mitigation, carbon calculations) -to understand the interconnectedness and systems thinking around climate change -to disseminate the knowledge acting as multipliers and share the skills acquired during the -TC by youth workers promoting sustainability and climate resiliency in their organizations and youth -to live in a sustainable community and this way to understand how climate-friendly solutions -are in practice to incorporate in their local projects -to strengthen cooperation between partner organisations and to provide them with the idea to develop new projects for sustainability and climate change. Our main aim was to give youth workers the skills and information and support them to raise awareness about climate change, to help others to become more sustainable and lower their emissions, to make a climate-neutral life, and to give them the space to make their projects more climate-friendly. These objectives were linked to the Erasmus+ objectives and the Greek priorities as they: - supported participants in the acquisition of competencies and helped them improve their personal development and employability in the labour market and beyond; - supported the professional development of those who work in education, training and youth with a view to innovating and improving the quality of teaching, training and youth work; - increased the capacities, attractiveness and international dimension of organizations active in the education, training and youth fields so that they were able to offer activities and programmes that better respond to the needs of individuals - informed and raised awareness of young people about the environment and climate change and the challenges that arise as a result. - also supported t capacity building between partners with the aim of ensuring sustainability and enhancing resilience to climate change. - enhanced awareness of the participants and inserted the idea of long-term vision as seen by the EU and the 2030 vision about sustainable development and sustainable development goals. It contributed for example SDG4 for quality education, SDG 13 about climate change, SDG 11 about sustainable communities and cities and SG12 sustainable consumption and on other SDGs related to sustainability.
