Objectives

The project was inspired by trainers and participants that met during a social entrepreneurship project in Slovakia in October 2019. The mobility was focused on youth with a disability, the social business that support and help them, and ways how to foster their inclusion into society also during taking part in the European project. The topic has been so interesting and discovering for many and they decided to go deeper into the topic of youth with disabilities and lack of equity, especially in terms of access to the labor market. The unemployment rate of youth in Europe is alarming. According to Eurofuund Youth unemployment rate in April 2020 was 23.5% ≈ 5.7 Million* Even more worryingly, there were more than 7.5 million young people not engaged in employment, education, or training – over 13 percent of the EU’s youth population* What Euro fund is also stressing in other place Young people suffering from some kind of disability or health issues are 40% more likely to be NEET than those in good health* That is why we wanted to propose a project that equipped youth workers working already with young people with disabilities in new skills and methods of activating this vulnerable group into the labor market. The project was proposed for financing under the key action K1- mobility for a youth worker, it was held in Kavala Greece, and there were involved 23 Youth workers coming from 7 different countries: Greece, Turkey, Slovenia, Italy, Slovakia Romania, and the Czech Republic. For 7 days they worked on creating new opportunities for youngsters all over Europe! The project objectives were: • To raise competencies of youth workers working on engaging youth with disabilities in the labor market, by providing the tools and methods to do so (career consulting and others) • To develop their knowledge regarding the specific situation of young people with disabilities in a labor market and thus their special needs • To give participants broad information about potential opportunities for young people with disabilities regarding EU programs and worldwide • To develop a practical Manual that will be used by people working with a disability on vocational activation They worked on improving their competencies by learning and developing new methods of activation, knowing the better background and specific situation of this vulnerable group, and working on manual bringing together the knowledge and disseminating it to all interested experts and institutions. The training was held using a non-formal education methodology. The project had a strong impact on its participants but also on local communities, partner organizations, and other stakeholders interested in the topic of activation into the labor market for youth with a disability. This is thanks to the publishing Manual which is widely promoted via online tools and will be accessible to all interested in this topic.
