Objectives

The internationalization of our school together with the promotion of awareness of european citizenship was one of the aspects we wanted to implement because it could let us better the digital and linguistic competences of our students. To achieve such internationalization, we had participated in some eTwinning projects thanks to which we had established students´exchanges with Netherlands, France and Poland, exchanges that we are still doing. The bilingual teachers of the non linguistic subjects, needed to lesrn about CLIL and they needed to extend this methodology to other departments, the Engish teachers wanted to learn about innovative methodologies and the head teachers considered very interesting getting to know the way other European schools work so as to apply in our school any interesting aspect that could make it work better. Always bearing in mind that our main objective was to get our school work better as a new bilingual school, to implement the professional and linguistic skills of our teachers and the digital and linguistic competences of our students. Some teachers wanted to share our work as a bilingual school with other teachers from European countries so as a way of reflecting about what we are doing and, after discussing and sharing experiences, enrich each other. We wanted to open our school to Europe, to work with European teachers and students, to work in common projects, to create links.

Background

IES Mar Mediterráneo High School from Aguadulce (Almería) has been a bilingual school since the academic year 2018/2019. Nowadays, all the classes, 1st-2nd-3rd and 4th year of ESO are bilingual. It is, besides, an ICT school. When we applied for this project, only 1st and 2nd of ESO classes were bilingual, so we were new in the field of bilingualism. Our Educational Project gives a lot of importance to the development of technological skills (we are an ICT school) and to the development of Linguistic Competence in our students. We wanted to participate in this Erasmus+ KA 101 Project because we saw a great opportunity of implementing the internationalization of our school and of implementing the digital and linguistic competences of our students and teachers.
