1. To reduce the dropout and school failure rate: -Explore new motivating methodologies. -Improve coordination between the teaching staff as a whole. -Develop educational inclusion as a key strategy to reduce school failure. -Bet on the opening and international exchange of the center to offer new educational and professional expectations to our students. 2. To implement multilingual teaching. -Improve teacher professional development. -Share teaching-learning strategies with other European schools. -Take advantage of internationalization as a training opportunity to improve the linguistic competence of teachers. 3. To improve the inclusion of students in our center. -Explore other educational realities on inclusion. -Develop multicultural awareness. -Improve teaching practice to give an inclusive response to the diversity of students. -Consolidate the dynamics initiated to improve the inclusion of students. -Assist students who join the high school for the first time. -Give an educational response to the conditions and personal background of the students, vocational interests, difficulties and strengths.
The IES La Marxadella from Torrent is a huge public school (1642 students and 161 teachers). It offers CSE, Post compulsory and Vocational studies. It is also a school for students with disabilities (physical and mental impairment). The socio-economic level of our school is medium-low and it presents a wide cultural and social diversity. We have led a multilingual project and we belong to the net of schools that implements the European Language Portfolio. This desire for internationalization has recently evolved in the participation of European Parliament Ambassadors Schools (EPAS). Our school has been undergoing an innovation and improvement programme of different measures of attention to diversity. Our basic needs spotted from our SWOT analysis presented us with three strategic lines: - To reduce school failure and prevent early school leaving, which is 34% at the moment to try to achieve the 10% of the ET 2020 framework. - To improve our capacity to implement a multilingual programme that allows the students to improve their linguistic abilities. - To implement new school methodologies that favor inclusion and integration.
