Background

This Project emerges within the framework of two other programs for the innovation in teaching which are currently in progress in our school, IES El Palo: Digitalization of Schools Project and School Language Project. A survey has been carried out in our school in order to determine the level of communicative competence in our students, and it has shown that this competence needs to be improved. In 2020, the year when we applied for this Project, our own School Language Project focused on improving reading skills in our students. This made us also realice that communicative and digital skills must be considered as a whole, since an important part of our students’ reading material is digitalized. On the other hand, this is an opportunity to study in detail digital tools which could help us improve reading skills. Besides we can say that he Project is the answer to the questions raised by the next books: Teaching reading in Europe (https://sede.educacion.gob.es/publiventa/la-ensenanza-de-la-lectura-en-europa-contextos-politicas-y-practicas/europa-lectura/15968) and eighth position in PISA report in 2018 (https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Informe_PISA: Irlanda 8º).
