Objectives

First, we sought to modify the current learning style so that it had a constant link with the environment and the social context th at surrounds us. That is why one of the objectives was to learn new methodologies which were more open, motivating and innovative, in accordance with the social reality in which we live. Besides, these strategies should be linked to an improvement in information and communication technologies. Our desire was also to improve the autonomy of our students. To do this, we had to focus our proposals on improving key competences, which could especially ensure that our students learned to learn out of curiosity. The promotion of reading as a method of improving linguistic competence, awareness and cultural expresión has been one the most important goals of our Project. Finally, we were aware that the internationalization of our Secondary School was dependent on the improvement of foreign language competence of the teaching staff . That is why we wanted to ensure that part of the mobilities were based on training courses on CLIL methodologies, which would enable us to teach more subjects in English in a near future.

Background

The application for an Erasmus KA101 project was based on the idea of several teachers at IES La Asunción Secondary School in Elche, who formed a seminar group to address the need to make small transformations during the 2019-2020 academic year and adapt the centre to the new social and educational reality of the XXI century. Once we clarified that the changes should focus on finding new pedagogical tools and educational strategies that would allow an education of quality open to internationalization and new European educational frameworks, we made the decision to apply for an Erasmus KA101 project. Finally, we believed that the quality of education to which we aspired would only be achieved by promoting new learning opportunities that favoured, above all, cooperation and the transfer of ideas with centres and people from other countries. This new window that we would open in the center would be the basis for our school of future.
